This is not a devotional so much as this week's prayer focus. If you are unable to join us at 8:30am Monday Oct 13 in Room 200 of the HS, please pray "of one accord" for these requests. And we always start prayers by hearing from God in His Word first:
"I am the Vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given to you. This is to My Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be My disciples. As the Father has love Me, so I have loved you. Now remain in My love. If you obey My commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed My Father's commands and remain in His love. I have told you this so that My joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete." John 15:5-11
"In the morning, O Lord, You hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before You and wait in expectation." Psalm 5:3
Praise that, in His sovereignty, God's purposes will prevail, and that in all things, we are ultimately accountable only to One.
Repentance for answering and acting in accordance to the voices of the world, in our lives and at LCA.
Submission to God's Word, will and wisdom, His leading, guidance, and direction, NOT depending on man's wisdom and ways, especially as our thoughts linger on the spiritual health of LCA and God's mercies to lead us in new directions that deepen relationships with Him.
Humility and Unity, working together, putting others first, encouraging and supporting; moving any hypocrisy in us to integrity in living with no fear of man's response.
Petition for us individually and corporately as believers our kingdom purpose of discipleship, mentoring, relationship-building, leadership; that LCA be an environment where students are edified in their faith by all those who impact their day.
Protection and deliverance from the influence of the world, satan, and selfish motives and desires.
Give thanks in all circumstances: answering years of prayers in ways that are "immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine" and building our trust that He will do so; exciting new directions with new people; improving communication and a request for a continuation of that grace; thanks for provision for all physical needs (personal) throughout school.
Give God glory not by our own definition and understanding but by submission to the fullness of the Spirit in us (pray that we not grieve or quench the Spirit's work), that God Himself do more at LCA than anything we can do on our own, for our good and His glory.
